» I love this special. I can watch it over and over again. Watching beautiful powerful black women celebrate and honor one another was so … I cannot even describe my feelings of pride and self-worth witnessing that. The Church Sunday bit was one of the most electrifying things I’ve seen on TV. It reminded me so much of Sundays at my church when I was a little girl.

That special is everything! I had chills all throughout I’m so glad that those legends received that honor, and to know that some of those great women have passed since then makes it even more touching. Oprah is nothing short of awesome!! Just another reminder that a little appreciation goes a long way!

I want this blown up on my wall
You realize how much wisdom is here?

“I do black history projects for television.”
“How did you become interested in these projects?”
“It’s because I’m partially black, and I know both sides. I look white, so I find that white people who don’t know who I am tend to be very racist around me, if they want to be. They never know, and I’m very sensitive to this. When I hear something racist, it makes me cringe. It hurts.”
