Creators Of Color Google Group

I was in a serious funk today dealing with hate mail and YouTube drama, so instead of bumming around and feeling frustrated, I decided to start a Google group specifically for content creators of color. The goal is to have a group of smart, motivated and driven individuals who are looking to network, collaborate and motivate other online content creators. Bloggers, YouTubers, journalists, writers, musicians, podcasters WHATEVER. If you use the internet to make stuff and you’re a POC, this is the spot for you.

Admittedly, this is a completely new venture for me, I have no idea how this is gonna work or how many people are gonna join, so bear with me and let’s make some cool stuff.

Innovation is everything. Good luck. I think you will succeed as long as it is inclusive of all POCs not just black Americans but people of all shades. Variety of voice is everything.

Yes, this group is completely inclusive. It’s open to all POC, not just black Americans. I’d love to have as much of an international presence as possible.

Finally took the time to watch this. So proud of chescaleigh! This is such a excellent video. I’ve always admired your work and have been inspired by what you do. You are an amazing woman that is not only very talented and beautiful, but a voice for many. Keep doing what you are doing…the younger generations are definitely paying attention!

You would be surprised with how many people in your life could be going through depression at this very moment.  People hide it like a paper bag over their heads out of fear of being judged, made fun of, seen as weak, or just not taken seriously.  Depression should not be taken lightly, it holds us down from our purpose and potential in life.  Those who tell you that it doesn’t exist have never experienced depression in their life, therefore not understanding the symptoms and how it’s something that cannot be fixed in a day!  So if you think you are depressed or if you think you know someone else who is, please talk to a friend, a family member, or anyone else in your life that you trust - never overlook the possibility of seeing a doctor for more professional help!!  Your feelings are real, your feelings are shared upon millions.  Don’t hide it, talk to someone about it.  With the right help, you can rediscover your confidence and begin life anew with our undying love and support!

We are right here!!

I am in tears.
A thousand thank yous to this artist

"I had always believed that I could do anything, and when you’re in school you can do anything. You can play any role, you can play any age, because that’s what you do at school. But the realization that they really didn’t make movies or TV shows about black women… I suddenly panicked. I just had this panic like ‘Oh my god, I spent all this time to do this thing that the industry is not set up for me to succeed in this thing.’ So I freaked out. I freaked out." - Tracie Thoms: Life After Juilliard

"The brain can get sick too."

Re-make of this post.

End mental health stigma.

thank you

thank you

That last one hit hard.

This is beautiful to me. I’m ADD, OCD, and have Depression and it is so easy to let people make me think that I make up the way I feel and that I’m trying to not be okay.

We don’t always understand bran pathology or how best to treat it, but our lack of knowledge doesn’t mean these conditions don’t exist or aren’t very difficult for individuals to endure.  I’ve never understood the stigma of ‘mental’ illness.  The brain, as an organ, needing medication to function is no different from the pancreas, as an organ, being dysfunctional and the person needing insulin.  We still have so much to learn about our hormonal and endrocrinal systems, let alone about how the brain functions.
